Margaritaville 2008

19th Annual, August 2008
Glenn and Angie’s House

We moved the annual party back to August this year, but the weather fully cooperated with perfect 80 degree temperatures and no humidity. Wow, was it nice!

We had a great turn-out once again this year, and there was plenty to do for adults and kids alike. Ron was serving up some classics out at the Tiki Bar all night, and all the kids had fun out at “Margaritavilleland” which was complete with slip-n-slides, kiddie pools, hammocks, and sand boxes.

Another wonderful time.

Catskills Fourth of July

July 3-6, 2008
Camp Deli-Bewtra
Hurley, New York

Well, the final construction was almost done on the new house, so we all traveled up to see how it was coming along. Neeraj and Barb had used this trip as an excuse for their contractor to complete the job, so the house was just about ready for prime-time when we arrived.  We all slept in the new house, which was furnished with all new furniture and just about fully completed.  All that remained were a few technical issues with the cable TV system, and a missing door and banister here and there. But, that certainly didn’t slow us down for playing several hours of Rock Band on the Playstation 3.  We rocked it hard on many tracks including Boston’s “Foreplay/Longtime” and Rush’s “Tom Sawyer.” But, Angie stole the show with some awesome vocals on Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.” Excellent!

Sydney’s 1st Birthday

June 7-8, 2008

Well, it’s time for Sydney to turn one!  We celebrated her first birthday and Christening on the same weekend.  We had a birthday party for her on Saturday, and the Christening was on Sunday.  Her “big” birthday gift this year was her very own Schoenhut piano, just like the one that her Mommy enjoyed many years ago as a child.  She still loves to “play” on it every day!

Kelly and Steve’s Wedding

May 23-25 2008
The Kiana Lodge
Poulsbo, Washington

Angie and I took our first trip without Sydney to head out west to Seattle for Kelly and Steve’s wedding. We toured down-town Seattle on Friday, going to the Experience Music Project, the Space Needle, the Pike Place Market, and bumped into Andre 3000 of Outkast. Then on Saturday we boarded a ferry to Bainbridge Island on our way to the Suquamish Hotel and Casino, but not before we stopped and met the group for a nice outdoor lunch. Sunday took us to into the little town of Poulsbo for some more sightseeing, and then we capped off the day with a beautiful wedding ceremony at The Kiana Lodge.

Catskills New Year’s

December 2007 - January 2008
Camp Deli-Bewtra
Hurley, New York

We headed up to the Catskills for New Year’s Eve once again this year. Sydney, Joe and Marcus all had a great time playing together in the great room, next to the big roaring fire. We were treated to a beautiful snowfall, made a “snow family”, and got to see the latest construction on the new house. It was a “picture perfect” time.

Christmas 2007

Christmas started early this year as we met Gary, Nikki and the twins over at Gemi’s house for lunch a few days before Christmas.  We all had fun and enjoyed our big stuffed dogs.  The next day it was off to Grandma’s house for lunch, and then a relaxing evening under our own tree in the evening. Christmas Eve and morning were down in Solomon’s Island at Angie’s parents house.

Thanksgiving 2007

Thanksgiving lunch this year was at Mom and Bob’s. The 4 kids, Tristan, Summer, Riley and Sydney did some posing for the camera.  After lunch, we headed over to Gemi’s for Thanksgiving dinner. A day chock-full of family, and we all had a wonderful time.

2007 Toilet Bowl

(Thanksgiving Day)
Farmland Elementary School

“This one goes to 11.”  And with those immortal words from ‘Spinal Tap’ we celebrated our 11th consecutive year of the re-incarnated annual Toilet Bowl Flag Football game.  Yes, my father would be proud.

This year the game once again returned to Thanksgiving morning — just in time to get in a few quarters of football before families gathered for Thanksgiving lunches and dinners.  Several Farmland “blasts from the past” made it out this year, including Andrew Rogers, Andrew Vines and Terry Heffernan.  It was great to see those old faces and get all caught up again.

Hope to see you all out there again next year!

Pumpkin Festival at Butler’s Orchard

Butler’s Orchard Pumpkin Festival
October 2007

Well, if it’s October, then it must be time for hayrides and pumpkins at Butler’s Orchard. This year Sydney went with her good friends, Julia and Alexandra. We picked out pumpkins, ate candied apples, and went on a hayride.
