June 7-8, 2008

Well, it’s time for Sydney to turn one!  We celebrated her first birthday and Christening on the same weekend.  We had a birthday party for her on Saturday, and the Christening was on Sunday.  Her “big” birthday gift this year was her very own Schoenhut piano, just like the one that her Mommy enjoyed many years ago as a child.  She still loves to “play” on it every day!

This was a big month for Sydney. She started ‘cruising’, waving, clapping, and dancing! She loves to dance to Van Morrison’s “Precious Time.” We also traveled up to see Gary, Nikki and the twins at their new home in PA. And, we got a chance to head to the beach for an early taste of summertime.

Sydney spoke her first word this month: “ditty.” Translation: “kitty.” We realized what she was saying when she kept chasing the cats around saying, “ditty! ditty! ditty!”

Sydney has a tooth!  Yep, her very first tooth came in this month.  She also stood up for the very first time, too!  She’s so proud of herself and  loves to stand.  She’s also going to music class now and has such a ball each week.  She’s all smiles and loves the music and bubbles.

Sydney started crawling this month! She’s gotten really good at crawling across the room to get to our cat, Cody. Also, she’s really starting to love solid foods. Some of her favorites are, pumpkin, peas and squash. We took a trip up to NYC this month, and Sydney got a chance to see Times Square and Daddy’s New York office.

This month Sydney ate her first solid food! It was rice cereal, and she made a funny face, spit it out and cried! She also went to her first neighborhood party. She spent Christmas at Grammy’s, then at Gemi’s and then again at home. And, she celebrated her first New Year’s Eve up in the Catskill Mountains.

Sydney joined the neighborhood playgroup this month! She met her new playgroup friends, Nate, Bryson, Sara, Eleanor and Sammy. She also sat up all by herself for the first time, and went to her first Toilet Bowl and Thanksgiving. She also watched the sunrise with Daddy and met Santa!

Sydney spent a lot of time with her friends this month. She went to the beach with her friends Joe and Marcus, and she went to the Pumpkin Festival with her friends Julia and Alex. She wore her ladybug costume for the big neighborhood Halloween Parade and helped Mommy and Daddy pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters. She also learned how to hold her bottle all by herself!

This was a busy month! Sydney had her first Margaritaville party, she celebrated two birthdays — one for Mommy and one for Daddy — and she visited Grammy and Grandpa Ron’s house for the first time. She also went to the beach again and hung out at Grotto Pizza!

Sydney started talking this month! Her first “words” were ‘A-goo’ and ‘A-boo.’ Mommy and Daddy enjoyed listening to her talk and smile and play with her ears. She even laughed for the first time! And, she went back to the beach with some of her friends. She enjoyed being on the sand and relaxing by the pool.
