Salt Lake Olympics

Salt Lake Olympics

XIX Olympic Winter Games
Salt Lake City, Utah
February 21 - 25, 2002

Yes, it’s true. Angie and I went to the Olympics for our first date. We had met 12 days prior on February 9th, a night on which Glenn had a good case of “Olympic Fever”, having watched the opening ceremonies on the previous evening. It’s here in the States, I gotta go. Once in a lifetime, I kept thinking to myself. And so, as Angie and I watched the Games on a TV at Montgomery’s Grille, I turned to her and asked, “Wanna go?”

“Sure.”

“I’m not kidding.”

“Me neither.”

Well, after a few calls and respective “sorry for the short notice but I need to take a once in a lifetime vacation with someone I just met” conversations with our bosses, we had airplane tickets to Salt Lake City, two seats to the Closing Ceremonies, and were booked for 4 nights at the beautiful Alta Peruvian Lodge.

We spent our first day skiing in Alta and hanging out with the German Ski Team. On our second day we went to see Bode Miller in the finals of the Men’s Slalom, and Team USA win the Silver Medal in the finals of the the 4-man Bobsled. We spent the evening in downtown Park City, Utah and made sure to wait in line for 3 hours to get our Roots Berets. Our third day brought with it the wonderful spectacle of the Closing Ceremonies.

An unbelievably awesome time!
